Enslavement comes with a cost, always. Death comes by the cost of sin, debt by greed, lust by unhealthy and unfulfilled love, brokenness by addiction… but Liberation is free!
But it is why it costs us nothing that matters: because our life came at the cost of Christ’s. He suffered the most terrible death imaginable (separation from the love of God, Mark: 15:34) because of His awesome desire to be in relationship with us, His creation.
Enslavement or Liberation? You have a choice. If you desire Liberation, you will find it in this prayer (see Romans 10:9):
“Jesus, I know that I have broken your laws and that my sins have separated me from you. Truly, I am sorry. I want to turn away from my enslavement to sin. Please forgive me. Please come into my life and free me. Help me, Jesus. I believe that you died for me and my sins on the cross. I ask that you become Lord in my life and reign in my heart from this day forward. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen!”
